Maria Belmira (Amaro) McConnell

Maria Belmira deSousa McConnell (Amaro) 75, of Warren, RI, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, October 27, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Michael McConnell.

Born in Vila Nova, on the Island of Terceira, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Francisco deSousa and Maria DeLurdes (DaPena) Amaro.

Mrs. McConnell worked as a customer services representative in the food service industry and as a housekeeper prior to retirement. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading books, cooking, and most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.

Maria is survived by her two children, Eileen M. (Cardoso) Penn, of Warren, RI and Arthur B. Cardoso and his wife Kim, of Providence and Extended family, Pamela McConnell, Dawn McConnell, Michael McConnell and Mathew McConnell; four siblings, Francisco, Manuel, Ermina Amaro, and O’dilia Amaro; fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Mary Lou Cardoso and sister of the late Fernando Amaro.

A celebration of Maria's life will he held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm, in the home of her son, Arthur Cardoso, 27 Delmar Street, Providence, RI 02907.
