John Stephen Lopes, age 62, of Raynham, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth A. (Rocha) Lopes.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John S. and Elaine K. (Gay) Lopes. He graduated from Boston University earning an associates degree in Paralegal Studies.
John had a twenty year career at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Corrections as a correctional officer,
A loyal fan of the Florida State University Seminole Football team, John held season tickets and relished every moment he could supporting his favorite team.
In addition to football, John found joy playing golf and skiing when he was younger.
He will be remembered as being a lovable man who cared deeply for those around him, John was very generous and touched alot of people's hearts. He always put others before himself and always went out of his way to ensure the well-being of friends and family members.
Besides his loving wife Elizabeth A. Lopes, who stood by his side until the very end; he leaves his sister Kathryn Weiby, a godchild Nicole Weiby, mother-in-law Genevieve C. Rocha, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, at the Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Services, 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton. Interment will be held on
Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00 am, in Saint Joseph Cemetery. The procession will gather at 9:45 am inside the main entrance of the cemetery on East Britannia Street.
