Edmond W. Swakon , 94, of North Dighton, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Born in North Dighton, he was the son of the late Franciszek and Apolonia (Koziol) Swakon. Edmond was a graduate of Dighton High School. He worked as a foreman at Harodite Industries for many years before retiring. For years, after working at the factory, he would tend to braces of sleek Greyhounds that he raced dogs for years. Ed wanted to see America so he bought a used car and a used trailer and set off traveling all over America. Ed was quick to laugh, especially in his later years, self-depreciating to a fault, and humble. Ed spent many hours gardening and was a frequent vendor at the local farmer’s market, Ed enjoyed the stock market and spent many hours studying and developing a broad understanding that few Wharton MBAs could rival.
Ed had an undying devotion to his family. When someone needed aid, he was there and gave freely and without reservation. Everything from Ed came unconditionally and with love unbounded. Mr. Swakon is survived by his sister, Janina Fusaro, of West Haven, CT; nephews, Tracey Davis, of Tempe, AZ, Mark Davis, of Broomfield, CO, and James Davis, Jr., of Bradenton, FL; and a niece, Michelle Martinat, of South Weymouth, MA. He was the brother of the late Thaddeus Swakon and late Edward Swakon.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Edmond’s funeral services and interment in his family lot in Saint Joseph Cemetery will be privately held.
